Mrs. Maxine Lucille Sprague, Age 84 of Bailey, Michigan died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 in Bailey. She was born Maxine Lucille Rusco in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Bernice Irene (Rull) and William Otto Rusco on February 20, 1929. She married Charles Harold Sprague on October 15, 1955 in Bailey, Michigan. She was a produce packer until her retirement. She is survived by her husband Charles Sprague, daughters Marie (Wayne) Bennett, Mary (Lyal) Stuart, Vicki (Wade) Strutzel, her son Norris (Kris) Sprague, 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, her brothers Roger (Marge) Rusco, Fred (Fran) Rusco, her aunt Beatrice Heiss and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Wendy Strutzel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at the Grant Community Church on Saturday, January 18, 2014 with Pastor Steve VanderWest officiating. Interment will be in Seaman Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6‑9 PM Friday at Fields‑McKinley Grant Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Judith Kay Garlacz, Age 68 of Newaygo died Saturday, January 11, 2014 near Fremont. She was born Judith Kay Wright in Flushing, Michigan the daughter of Carrie Ann (Wright) and Russell Lee Wright on January 24, 1945. She was a teacher’s Aide. She is survived by her son Jason Garlacz of Bridgeton and her cousin Carl Doug Wright of Elwell. Mrs. Boakame Baker, age 71 of Kent City passed away early Wednesday, January 8, 2014 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Boakame worked at the GM plant on 36 Street for 27 years. She married Roy Baker in 1975 in Temple, Texas. She loved fishing and spending time in her garden. She is survived by her husband Roy Baker, daughters; Pinki (Dale) Sparr, Stacy Cowles, grandchildren; Adrian (Chrissla) Rodriguez, Jessika Rodriguez, John Rodriguez, Zech Cowles, Aerial Cowles, mother-in-law; AnnaMae Baker, brother-in-law; Bruce (Betsy) Baker, sister-in-law; Carla (Rich) Schoenborn and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Richard Timothy Wingfield, Age 52 of Grant, Michigan died Monday, January 6, 2014 at home. He was born Richard Timothy Wingfield in Pennington Gap, Virginia the son of Marcela (Cox) and Richard James Wingfield on January 13, 1961. He is survived by his daughter Jamie & Ramon Jasso of Grant and his grandchildren Ramon, Francisco, Jasmin Andres, and Jaslene and his friend Mike Guajardo of Grant. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery. Visitation will be held 3-5 PM Saturday, January 11th at Fields‑McKinley Grant Chapel. Mr. Kenneth Charlie Gobert, Age 74 of Newaygo died Sunday, January 5, 2014 at home. He was born Kenneth Charlie Gobert in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Dora (Durham) and Leo Gobert on May 24, 1939. He married Sandra Gohn on February 8, 1975 in Wyoming, Michigan. He was a torchman for Valley Truck Parts until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Sandra Gobert of Newaygo, his children Jen Gobert of Newaygo, Dale & Christine Sturdavant of Newaygo, Karl Sturdavant of Newaygo, Kenneth Gobert, Jr. of Grand Rapids, Leroy Gobert of Spring Lake, Juanita Nichols of White Cloud, 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, his sister Ruth, his niece Kathy Kent, and his nephews Ted & Lena Swanson and Vincent Barry. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean Kent. Memorial services are still pending at this time.

Mr. Vernon “Pete” Duane Hole, Age 80 of Howard City, formerly of Newaygo, died Monday, January 6, 2014 in Ensley Township. He was born Vernon Duane Hole in Ensley Center, Michigan the son of Hazel Elizabeth (Thompson) and Harvey Henry Hole on December 16, 1933. He was a Maintenance Supervisor for Nutra‑Sweet Company until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion post 197 and Harbor Beach Gun Club. He is survived by his children Cathy Drouillard, Vernon Hole Jr., Marie Logan, Vincent Hole, Janet Clark, Yvonne Stegall, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers Cliff & Deb Hole, Richard & Lucille Hole and his sister Marilyn Beerman. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM from the Fields‑McKinley Newaygo Chapel on Friday, January 10, 2014. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service. Diana Jeanne Shull, age 65 of Ravenna passed away at her residence with her husband of 44 years by her side on Sunday, January 5, 2014. She is survived by her husband George Shull, son; Christopher (Mary) Shull, grandchildren; Allysa, Shawn and Tiffany, brothers; Edward Gentile, Ronald (Marty) Gentile, Michael Gentile, Joseph Gentile, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Marjorie (Bob) Bergers, Geraldine (Ronald) Cryderman, Peggy (Carl )Hesse, Richard (Cathy) Shull and several nieces and nephews. Marie Louise (Graham) Dougan, 88, passed away at home on January 5, 2014. She was born on January 29, 1925 in Wooster, Michigan, the daughter of Harry and Mary (Schott) Graham. Marie lived her entire life in Newaygo County. She graduated as Valedictorian from Grant High School in 1942. After high school she worked in Muskegon at Continental Motors as part of the war effort during World War II. In 1946 she married Millard LeRoy Dougan of Grant. They lived in Grant for a few years before moving to Fremont.
Marie is survived by her children: Mary Jo (Lawrence) Swanson of Grant; David and Connie (Wildfong) Dougan of Grant; Tom and Suzanne (Garner) Dougan of Houghton Lake; Jerry and Marcia (Kiefer) Dougan of Fremont; Terry and Joan (Sanborn) Dougan of Hamilton and Susan (Dougan) and Tim Ylitalo of Holton. Marie is survived by two sisters, Laura Jean Post of Hesperia and Betty Clark of Grant. She has thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
After the children were all in school, Marie began working as a lab technician at a local food processing plant where she retired from Spees in 1988. She was an avid bowler, having traveled to many different states, bowling in a variety of national tournaments. She enjoyed her grandchildren, playing bingo and going to casinos.
Preceding her in death were her husband Millard LeRoy; son Richard Dougan; one grandchild, David Warren Dougan; two brothers, Clyde and Robert; and two sisters, Bonnie and Josephine.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, January 10,2014 at Fields-McKinley Grant Chapel. Visitation with the family will be Friday January 10, 2014 from 11:00 AM until time of the service. Mrs. June Ann Grabill, Age 84 of Grant died Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in Grant.  She was born June Ann Johnson in Muskegon, Michigan the daughter of Anna (Zwikersch) and Herbert Johnson on June 30, 1929. She married Collin Grabill on October 8, 1948 in Grant, Michigan and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2009.  She was a homemaker and farmers wife while being a 4H leader for many years, active in Farm Bureau; volunteered at Grant Hospital for many years, gave farm tours to many kindergarten classes and was a longtime member of Michigan Jersey Cattle Club.  She was a member of Grant Reformed Church where she was active in missions, the Women’s Ministry and was a Sunday School teacher.  She is survived by her children  Dale & Lora Jean Grabill of Grant, Sally & Jerry Puite of Grant, Denny & Nancy Grabill of Grant, her grandchildren Jodie & Imos Wu, Darrell & Amy Grabill, Daniel & Robin Grabill, Dusty & Bre Grabill, Philip & Cheryl Puite, Andy & Carla Puite, Christy & Erik Beach, Katie Smalligan, Rhonda & Matt Buter, John & Meghan Grabill, Ben & Megan Grabill, and 12 great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by her sisters Beverly Verhoven and Marcella Tejchma, and her daughter in law Julie Grabill.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Reformed Church on Friday, January 3, 2014 with Rev. Jodie & Rev.
