Mr. John Andrew Dekkers, Age 83 of Newaygo, Michigan died Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Newaygo Medical Care Facility in Fremont. He was born John Andrew Dekkers in Grant, Michigan the son of Arlene May (Brock) and John Cornelius Dekkers on January 14, 1928. He was a factory worker for Teledyne until his retirement in 1990. He was a lifelong member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. He married Nina Holmes in October 1947 and he is survived by their children Pat & John Archbold of Fremont, Tom & Michele Dekkers of Newaygo, Teri & Joel Rodriguez of Newaygo, Steve Dekkers of Newaygo, Kathy Lynn of Holland, Pam & Jim Deemter of Fremont, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Mike Dekkers in 1986 and grandson Jeremy Fowler in 2007. He married Marilyn Zahrt in April 1986 in Newaygo and she preceded him in death in 1992 and he is survived by her 8 children and their families. He then married June Watrous in February 1995 in Florida who also survives him with her 4 children and their families. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo on Friday, December 2, 2011 with Father Roc officiating. Mrs. Georgia Bell Rusco, 91, of Newaygo died Saturday, November 26, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Georgia Bell Perry in Des Moines, IA the daughter of Anna (Hazel) and Dudley J. Perry on July 14, 1920. She married Samuel Rusco on January 28, 1945 in Dimondale, Michigan and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2011.

She is survived by her son, Randy & Diana Rusco of Grant and grandson, Kendall Rusco of Rockford.

Mr. John B. Fretter, age 74 of Traverse City, formerly of Newaygo, died Friday, November 11, 2011 in Tendercare Birchwood in Traverse City.   He was born John Bert Fretter in Newaygo, the son of Margaret Melissa (Craft) and Daniel Fretter on June 12, 1937.   He was a seof employed Odd Jobs laborer. He was a member of Kingsley United Methodist Church.       

He is survived by his sister Elsie & David Taylor of Mesick, his nieces & nephews Sandy Taylor of Traverse City, Debby & Asa McCarthy of Eastview, KY, Darell & Denise Taylor of Amherst, NY, Neal & Teresa Taylor of CO.

Sharey Delores Vaivada, 83, of San Antonio, Texas, formerly of Newaygo, died Friday, November 11, 2011 in San Antonio. She was born Sharey Delores Bjorkman in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of Gertrude Linnea (Nordstrom) and Reuben Russel Bjorkman on October 12, 1928. She married Joseph Vaivada on April 10, 1946 in Greensboro, NC and he preceded her in death in 1997. She worked for the Kent County Road Commission and was also the Croton Township Clerk for many years. She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters & the American Legion Auxiliary Post #381. She is survived by her daughters Sharey & Stephen Goerke of Newaygo, Darlene & Leonard Petchauer of San Antonio, TX, Kathy & Ernie Smith of Wyoming, her sons Bruce & Michelle Vaivada of Newaygo, Brian & Dena Vaivada of San Antonio, TX, Michael & Mary Vaivada of Leander, TX, 24 grandchildren, 61 great grandchildren, 14 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her grandson Robbie Kladder. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM from the McKinley Funeral Home, Newaygo Chapel on Thursday, November 17, 2011. Michael Train, 49, of Fremont, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Fremont. He was born Michael Train in Fremont, the son of Sylvia (Hall) and Cecil Train on November 27, 1961. He married Lisa Gilday on November 22, 1994 in Fremont.

Michael is survived by his wife Lisa Train; Sons, David & Anne Austin, Tim Fields, Danny Statan, Michael T. Train; Daughters, Christina Train (Mark) and Michelle Train; 5 grandchildren; Sisters Margaret & Tom Turner, Kathy & Craig Lull; Brother, John & Lynn Train. Michael was preceded in death by his parents.

Daniel F. McCarthy, age 92, of Grant, died Monday, November 7, 2011 at Fountain View Retirement Village in Grant. He was born Daniel Francis McCarthy in Revere, Mass. the son of Margaret (Kenart) and Charles McCarthy on August 8, 1919. He married Annie Lena Farnell on August 1, 1945 in Malden, Mass. and she preceded him in death on January 29, 2010. He was an engraver for Graphic Communications in Mass. for 30 years until retiring in 1981.  Mr. McCarthy was also a member of the DAV of America in Manchester, NH.  He was veteran of WWII serving in the Army from Jan. 26, 1942 until Oct. 8, 1945 with an Honorable Discharge as a T/SGT.   

Daniel is survived by his sons Daniel & Jackie McCarthy of St. Petersburg, FL, Bruce & Nancy McCarthy of Newaygo, Stephen & Jan McCarthy of Amesbury, MA; grandchildren Wendy & David Greene, Erin & David Feichtner, Christopher J. McCarthy; great-grandchildren Christopher J. Franklin, Morgann & Kira Greene, Jacob & Aidan Feichtner; brother Charles & Claire McCarthy.

Mrs. Violet Ferne Hallberg, Age 84 of Newaygo, Michigan died Sunday, November 6, 2011 in Newaygo. She was born Violet Ferne Bonter in Bailey, Michigan the daughter of Selma (Dahl) and Arba Bonter on February 24, 1927. She married Owen J. Hallberg on June 5, 1946 in Grand Rapids. She was a laundry attendant for Gerber Products until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of North Casnovia Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband Owen Hallberg of Newaygo, her daughters Sharon Wildoner of Portage, Judy & Van Nadeau of Fremont, 3 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, her sister Leota & Leroy Scott of Muskegon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 8 brothers and 2 sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM from the North Casnovia Baptist Church near Bailey on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 with Pastor Aaron Shaw officiating. Mr. John Kevin Bills, age 46 of Brohman, Michigan died, October 23, 2011. He was born John Kevin Bills in Stanwood, Michigan the son of Alice (Lightfoot) and Robert Bills on September 3, 1965.

John is survived by his mother Alice Bills of Brohman; Brothers Warren & Tammy Bills of Fremont, Bob Jr. & Virginia Bills of Brohman, Raymond & Sally Bills of Brohman, and Randy & Michelle Bills of Woodland Park, along with several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his father Robert Bills in 2006.

Thomas Raymond Reed, 63, of Newaygo, passed away at home on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

Tom was employed by Spartan Stores for 33 years prior to his retirement two months ago. Tom served in the United States Army from 1967-1975.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sally, of Newaygo; His children Amiee (Ray) Hinton of Groveton, GA, Jennifer Reed of Comstock Park, Christy Hall of Newaygo, Allison Reed at home; Granddaughter Alexis Hall of Newaygo; Grandsons Chris (Bubba) and Joseph Hall of Newaygo, Tres Randolph of Groveton, GA. Also survived by his sister Sharyl Westveer of Grand Rapids and brothers Don (Connie) Reed of Hopkins, Nick Reed of South Carolina.

Jennifer Lynn Day, age 47 of Newaygo, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in Newaygo. She was born Jennifer Lynn Schooley in Fremont, the daughter of Shirley (Overkamp) and Clifford Schooley on August 23, 1964. She was an avid animal lover.

She is survived by her daughter Staci & Tom Moore of Wyoming, MI; her grandchildren Emma Jean Moore and Evalyn Grace Moore of Wyoming; her mother Shirley Schooley of Newaygo; her brother Clifford Schooley of Newaygo; her sisters Jeannine & Dan Amelia of Newaygo and Annie Cale of Grant; along with many Cousins, Aunts & Uncles. She was preceded in death by her father Clifford Schooley Sr. and her grandparents Harry & Jenny Overkamp.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the McKinley Funeral Home, Newaygo on Friday, November 4, 2011 with Pastor Ben Oliveria officiating.  Interment will be held in Newaygo Cemetery.
