Mrs. Emma Irene Haynes, Age 91 of Newaygo, died Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Emma Irene Hallberg in Muskegon, Michigan the daughter of Ella (Graham) and Edward Hallberg on October 15, 1919. She married Eldon Haynes on August 27, 1954 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1989. She was a laundry attendant for Gerber Products, Fremont until her retirement. She was a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary. She is survived by her children Ron & Gerry Faurot of Grant, Dale Faurot of Grant, Richard & Sharlein Faurot of Newaygo, Mary & Tom Howard of Newaygo, Irving & Christina Faurot of Newaygo, 14 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, her brother Owen & Fern Hallberg of Newaygo, her sisters Margaret of Florida, Edna Goble of Baldwin and Ella & Stanley Mercer of Newaygo. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Wamser, her grandson Ronald Faurot. Memorial services will be announced later.

Mr. Richard Jay Fisk, Age 71 of Kent City, Michigan died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at home. He was born Richard Jay Fisk in Sand Lake, Michigan the son of Lera (Van Gilder) and Arthur Fisk on March 23, 1940. He married Donna Jean Saxton on December 23, 1964 in Rockford, Michigan. He was a founder of Fisk Wood Products and operated there until turning the business over to his sons to carry on in 2001. He was a member of Newaygo Pilots Association being a licensed pilot since 1979 and housed his airplanes at Grant Airport. He is survived by his wife Donna Fisk, his children Art & Hally Fisk of Kent City, Scott & Tami Fisk of Kent City, Richard Fisk, Jr. of Howard City, LaVern & Tammy Fisk of Grant, Connie Fisk of Coral, several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, his brother Cub & Donna Fisk of Oklahoma, and sister in law Ernistine Fisk of Kent City. He was preceded in death by his son Gary Fisk, five brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the Red Pine Bible Church, Kent City on Friday, September 30, 2011 with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Interment will be in Ashland Center Cemetery. Mrs. Charlene Lois Covington, Age 79 of Grant, died Tuesday, September 27, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Charlene Lois Wilson in Belding, Michigan the daughter of Laura (Gates) and Paul Paulina on May 4, 1932. She married John E. Covington on October 15, 1949 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on February 13, 1993. She is survived by her children Robert Covington of Grant, Larry & Chris Covington of Comstock Park, Gerald & Debbie Covington of Grant, Holly & Joe Gondor of Newaygo, 3 sisters, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, grandson, daughter‑in‑law and a brother. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM from the McKinley Funeral Home Grant Chapel on Friday, September 30, 2011 with Mr. Tom Force officiating. Visitation will be held 3‑5 PM on Friday before the service.

Mrs. Charlotte Lee Dove, age 72, of Newaygo, died Tuesday, September 20, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Charlotte Lee Falor in Muskegon, the daughter of Nellie June (Blackmar) and Charles Frederick Falor on July 8, 1939.
She is survived by her daughter Charlene Tucker of Wisconsin, son Daniel Tucker of White Cloud, son Larry Dove and his fiancée Ann of Newaygo, 8 step children, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, brother Larry Falor of Almont, sister Rhonda & Richard Mead of Holton and several nieces. She was preceded in death by her son Mark Tucker.

Kozal, Bernadine M. passed from this life on Friday, September 16. She was preceded in death by her father Walter, mother Helen and brother Donald. She is survived by her sister in law Patricia R. Kozal, several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many friends. She also leaves behind her faithful companion Missy. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 19, at 11:00 AM at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 599 W. Brooks St., Newaygo. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. Wesley James Hollinger, infant son of Jay & Cammie Hollinger of Casnovia, formerly of Grant, went to the Lord shortly before birth Saturday, September 10, 2011. He was born Wesley James Hollinger, the son of Camelia Danielle (Thompson) and Jay Robert Hollinger.
Besides his parents he is survived by his brother Andrew R. Hollinger, his sister Zenith D. Hollinger, his grandparents Naomi & Bruce Schoenmaker, Cherokee Thompson, Barb Hollinger, great grandparents Wilma & Dennis Roush and Kate Christoffersen.

Mrs. Donna L. Whitsell, ge 88 of Grant, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Grand Rapids. She was born Donna Lillian Wilson in Fremont, Michigan the daughter of Flora (Dawe) and William Wilson on August 23, 1923. She married David Odell Whitsell on June 18, 1945 in Texas and he preceded her in death. She was a Librarian for Grant Public Schools.
She is survived by her children Steve Whitsell and friend Cyndia VanBuskirk of Grant, Sally & Walt Elliott of Conklin, her grandchildren Cindy & Scott VanDenHeuvel, Troy Elliott, Kevin & Emily Elliott, 7 great grandchildren, and her brother James & Coleen Wilson of Grant.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 with Mr. Jonathan Greene officiating. Interment will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Grant. Mrs. Zora Lantz Preston, age 92 of Newaygo, died Sunday, September 11, 2011 near Fremont. She was born Zora Fern Anthony in Shepherd, Michigan the daughter of Myrle (Brown) and Claude Homer Anthony on September 30, 1918. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Wetzel Lantz and Arnie Root. She was a Homemaker all her life. She was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband Donald, her children Claudette Wandt of Grand Rapids, Carolyn & John Wright of California, Carmen Zack of Whitehall, Jim & Susan Lantz of Florida, Joel & Mary Lantz of Marquette, Mike & Jan Lantz of Newaygo, Jacque & Steve Hulst of Newaygo, Matt & Lori Lantz of Fremont, 27 Grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren and her step daughter Donna & Joe Fitzgerald of California. Mrs. Georgia Dawn Nelson, Age 87 of Newaygo, died Friday, September 9, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Georgia Dawn Cordts in White Cloud, Michigan the daughter of Martha (Horath) and George Cordts on February 27, 1924. She married Hazen Nelson October 8, 1948 in Fremont and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1994. She was a Women’s Army Air Corp veteran serving from May 11, 1944 to December 17, 1945 when she was discharged as a Corporal. She was a nurse for Dr. Pedelty in Newaygo until her retirement. She is survived by her son Steve Nelson of Newaygo, her grandchildren Melissa & Carlo Zarcone of Spring Hill, FL; Kathryn & Jesse Lee of Navarre, FL; Chad Nelson of Jacksonville, IL; 7 great grandchildren; her step daughter Lynn & Russ Meengs of Ferrysburg, her sisters Marie & Ben Sovinski of Fremont, Martha Waters of Fremont, her brother George & Lucy Cordts of Fremont, several nieces and nephews. Charles Joseph Gardner Sr., known by most as “Blackie”, aged 87, was surrounded by his loving family as he went to his Heavenly Home on Thursday, September 8, 2011, after a brief illness. Blackie was born December 5, 1923 in Oregon. He spent most of his working days as a long haul truck driver being a member of the Teamsters Local Union, but will be remembered best for his life of service to others. Blackie served his country during World War II; was a member of the Newaygo VFW Post #4249, the American Legion and the DAV, was a volunteer Fireman for Casnovia Fire Department, was a Shriner to help crippled children, served his community by holding various positions for the Village of Casnovia, by performing in the Shrine Circus and local parades as “Cazzie the clown”, being one of Santa’s helpers at Christmas and most importantly was a servant to his Lord by his years of hard work at Snow Bible Church, Spurgeon Bible College in Florida and by his support of Missionaries around the world.
Blackie went to join his daughter Vickie, His baby son and his son in law Gordon Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Arlene (Cone), his children Tara Harrison and Joe & Keely Gardner, his grandchildren Wendy & Duane Watson, Brad & Camille Harrison, Shannon & Nathan Thompson, CJ & Cait Gardner, Jacob Gardner & Morgan Gardner, 8 great grandchildren, brother Norman & Ravella Gardner, sisters Enola Howell, Dorothy & Bob Hobdy and several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Kent City Baptist Church with Pastor Don Long officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 Sunday, September 11, 2011 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Grant and one hour prior to the services at the church. Private family graveside services will be in the Seaman Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the Newaygo VFW Post #4249 at a later date.
