Mrs. Luella R. Wright, age 78 of Newaygo, died Friday, July 29, 2011 at her son’s home in Croton Township.   She was born Luella Ruth Shutts in Newaygo, the daughter of Mary Ruth (Stray) and Leonard George Shutts on April 5, 1933. She married Arthur Allen Westgate on May 23, 1952 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1956. She then married Norman Edgar Wright on July 14, 1961 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1994 . She was a Home Maker. She was a member of Luther Bible Chapel ‑ Newaygo and was Founding member of the Bills Lake Bible Church.

She is survived by her sons Arthur Westgate, Kirby & Tena Westgate, Len & Evelyn Wright all of Newaygo, 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her sister Margaret Thomas, her mother in law Sadie Westgate, brother in law Todd & Lois Johnson all of Newaygo.  She was also preceded in death by her sister Marie Johnson and brother in law Ernie Thomas.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Wednesday, August 3, 2011 with Pastor Phil Bongard officiating. Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Newaygo.   Visitation will be held 2‑4 & 6‑8 PM Tuesday. Mrs. Emma E. Crawford, age 85 of Newaygo, died Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods in Byron Center.   She was born Emma Elizabeth Moulter in Howard City, Michigan the daughter of Rosa (Snyder) and Otis Moulter on November 14, 1925. She married Harry Crawford on May 5, 1956 in Howard City and he preceded her in death on April 24, 1986. She was a Homemaker all her life. She attended Resurrection Life in Grandville and attended Sarah Care Adult Day Center. 

She is survived by her children Liz Mills of Newaygo, Otis & Carrie Crawford of Byron Center, John & Amy Crawford of Newaygo, MaryAnn Matzen of Belding, Bertha & Fred Corey of Morley, 13 grandchildren, 7 great‑grandchildren.  Besides her husband she also was preceded in death by grandson Josh Mills.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 with Pastor Dean Wheeler officiating. Ms. Deborah M. Franzel, aged 56 of Casnovia died Thursday morning July 28, 2011 at her daughter’s home.  She was born Deborah Marie Franzel December 14, 1954 in Deckerville, Michigan the daughter of Helen Doerr and Ernest Franzel.

There will be no visitation or services held here.  Deborah’s wishes were to be cremated and memorial services will be held at later date.

Her family was served by the McKinley Funeral Home in Grant.

Codey Raymond Papp, of Grant, the infant son of Heidi (Ackerman) and Peter Papp  died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 shortly after birth in Grand Rapids.

Besides his parents he is survived by sister Angel Smith, brothers Riley and Chase, maternal grandparents Millard & Susan Ackerman of Morley, paternal grandma Wilma Papp of Grand Rapids, aunt Jackie Papp and other aunts and uncles.

Mr. Don Barnhard, age 73 of Grant, passed away at his home Monday, July 18, 2011 after a long battle with cancer.   He was born John Donald Barnhard in Hesperia, the son of Dawn Virginia (Backus) and John R. Barnhard on October 24, 1937. He married Doris Ann Rolison on June 23, 1956 in Ravenna. He was a Truck driver and was a member of Teamster #406.

He is survived by his wife Doris Barnhard, his children Mike & Janis Barnhard of Newaygo, Laurie & Scott Higgins of Fremont, Barry Barnhard of Newaygo, his grandchildren Kris & Myke, Scotty & Myriah, Jen, Eric, his great‑grandchildren Colemann, Asa, Eryn, Deven, his brother Robert Barnhard of Grant, his beloved Bull Dog Hooch,  and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Betty B. Hocklander, age 86 of Grant, and formerly of Polo, MO died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the Fountainview Retirement Village in Grant.   She was born Betty B. Zimmerman in Polo, Missouri the daughter of Cleta Elizabeth (Hickman) and Henry Carlyle Zimmerman on July 3, 1925.   She was a Bank Teller for Plaza Bank of America, Overland Park, KS until 1990 retiring after 35 years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Prairie Village.

She is survived by her children Kathy & Wayne Brackett of Bailey, Kevin & Allison (Sony) Hocklander of Springfield, MO, her grandchildren Kristina, Jacob, Lindsay & Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the Prairie Ridge Christian Church, Polo, MO on Tuesday, July 19, 2011. Interment will be in the Prairie Ridge Cemetery.   Visitation will be held 11:00 AM ‑ 1:00 PM Tuesday prior to the service at the church.

Mary Ellen Van Horn, age 66 of White Cloud, died Friday, July 8, 2011 in White Cloud. She was born Mary Ellen in Fremont, the daughter of Julia (DeWeerd) and Edward Christian Van Horn on September 16, 1944. She was a member of Grant Reformed Church.

She is survived by her sister Janet Wolff, aunt Emma, several cousins and her Morgan Street Home family. She was preceded in death by her parents Julia and Edward, and brother-in-law Earl Wolff.

Funeral services will be held at the Grant Reformed Church, on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating. Interment will be in Parkview Cemetery. Mr. Samuel Grant Rusco, Age 90 of Newaygo, Michigan died Wednesday, July 6, 2011 near Fremont. He was born Samuel Grant Rusco in Muskegon, Michigan the son of Virginia M. (Long) and George W. Rusco on December 15, 1920. He married Georgia Perry on January 28, 1945 in Dimondale, Michigan. He was a Draftsman at Diamond Reo until his retirement and former owner/operator of Rusco True Value in Hesperia. He is survived by his wife Georgia Rusco of Newaygo, his son Randall & Diana Rusco of Grant, and his grandson Kendall Rusco of Rockford. Ward, Marguerite (Peggy) born August 24, 1938 and went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 30, 2011.  She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, of 25 years.

She is survived by three children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, three sisters, one brother-in-law, one sister-in-law, several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
