Mr. Michael J. Boynton, age 51 of Newaygo, died Saturday, June 25, 2011 in Newaygo. He was born Michael James Boynton in Chicago, Illinois the son of Emily (Styrula) and Richard Kenneth Boynton on December 6, 1959. He was a Journeyman/lineman for Union Local 876 in Edmore, Michigan. He served in the US Army from July 27, 1983 until November 10, 1986 when he was discharged as a SP 4.
He is survived by his son Matthew Boynton of Newaygo, his Significant other Linda Jordan of Newaygo, his sister Nancy Phillips of Newaygo, and his brother Richard & Patty Boynton of Hesperia,
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Saturday, July 2, 2011 with Military Honors under the auspices of the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo. Interment will be in the Newaygo Cemetery. Visitation will be held 2‑4 & 6‑8 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Sandra Darilyn Thomas, age 69, of Wyoming, formerly of Holland, died Thursday, June 23, 2011 in Michigan. She was born Sandra Darilyn Rowe in Fremont, Michigan the daughter of Dorothy Elizabeth (Hartmann) and Henry Clair Rowe on April 30, 1942. She was a secretery for HIS.
She is survived by her daughter Victoria Jenkins of Geneva, IL, son Jason & Victoria Thomas of Holland, MI, four grandchildren, brother Joseph & Susan Rowe of Rochester, NY, sister Jane Rowe of Grand Rapids, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Alexandra Thomas and parents Clair and Dorothy Rowe.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Interment will be held in Newaygo Cemetery. Mr. Ron L. Nelson, age 58, of Fremont, died Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Ann Arbor. He was born Ron L. Nelson in Grant, the son of Phyllis Jean (Baker) and Carl John Nelson on May 11, 1953. He married Brenda Lynn Scholtens on January 18, 1992 in White Cloud. He was a member of Reeman Christian Reformed Church.
Ron was President of Health Services Associates and a recognized expert in the area of reimbursement and physician payment. He also worked as a Physician Assistant for Spectrum Health Gerber Memorial. Ron co-founded and served as the first president of the National Association of Rural Health Clinics, served two terms as President of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and was appointed by President George W. Bush to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Rural Health & Human Services. He was currently on faculty for Central Michigan University’s PA program. Ron was known and loved for the compassion and care that he showed his patients. He always had time for people and never turned anyone away. He loved his horses and spending time out west in the mountains.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Brenda, his children Corey & Megan Nelson of Newaygo, Alisa & Jon Hammersley of Fremont, Joshua Nelson of Fremont, 6 grandchildren, parents Carl & Phyllis Nelson of Grant, brothers Dennis & Luanne Nelson of Newaygo, Michael Nelson of Newaygo, Richard & Dorothy Nelson of Grant, and Randall & Bridjet Nelson of Grant. He was preceded in death by grandson Cayden Hammersley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, June 15, 2011 from the Providence High School, 5479 W. 72nd St., Fremont with Pastor Les VanDyke officiating. Interment will be in Reeman Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2-4 & 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the Reeman Christian Reformed Church, 6121 Fitzgerald Ave., Fremont and 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Wednesday prior to services at the High School. Mrs. Vivian Van Singel, age 93, of Grant died Wednesday, June 08, 2011 in Fremont. She was born Ruthella Vivian Heiss in Grant, MI the daughter of Ina (Longcore) and Wilford Heiss on September 24, 1917. She married Ralph Van Singel on March 5, 1936 in Falmouth and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1987. She was a member of Grant Reform Church.
She is survived by her daughter Vicki Van Singel of Grant, son Gary Van Singel of Grant, daughter Gayle & Gordon Dragt of Frenchtown NJ, daughter Dona Hams of Summerfield, PA, four Grandchildren, seven Great-grandchildren, two Great-great grandchildren, sisters Oneta Zoet of Walker and Eunice Sweeres of Grand Rapids, along with many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Grant Reformed Church with Pastor Mik Sutton officaiting. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery near Grant. Mrs. Inez Gertrude Eckert, age 87, of Brooks Township, Michigan died Friday, June 10, 2011 near Fremont. She was born Inez Gertrude Goodenough in Green Bay, WI the daughter of Charollette (Robinson) and Lyle Eckert on April 16, 1924. She was a Homemaker all her life. She was a member of Newaygo Congregational United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her husband John Eckert, daughter Sherry Nelson, daughter Sue & Gary Cowden, Son Bob & Cheryl Eckert, six Grandchildren, and sister Joyce Anderson.

Mr. Dale E. Elliott, age 82 of Casnovia, died Thursday, June 9, 2011 in Muskegon. He was born Dale Eugene Elliott in Lamont, Michigan the son of Mae (Hadder) and Gerald Elliott on January 25, 1929. He married Doris Jean McDougall on October 19, 1957 in International Falls, MN. He was a Lt. Deputy Sheriff for Muskegon County Sheriff Department retiring after 29 years 1991. He served on the Muskegon County Road Commission for 4 years; a member of the Sons of the Kent City American Legion, and a member of the FOP.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Doris Elliott, his sons Dale "Pete" & Kelly Elliott of Belmont, David Elliott of Los Angeles, CA, his grandchildren Natalie & Noah Elliott, his sisters & brothers Geraldine Homminga, Ethlyn & Allen Smith, Karen & Jerry Kober, Cliff Elliott, Walt & Sally Elliott, Nina Starr, and his adopted daughter Deb Church.
Memorial services will be held at 4:00 PM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Monday, June 13, 2011 with Mr. Bob Carter officiating. Mr. Duane Howard Hoffman, age 71 of Rocky Mount, NC , formerly of Muskegon, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 in Fayetteville, NC. He was born Duane Howard Hoffman in Muskegon, Michigan, the son of Edith Marie (Howard) and Howard Leonard Hoffman on August 27, 1939. He was wed on March 21, 1959 to Betty Marie Heath of Ravenna, Michigan and celebrated 52 years of marriage at their home in Rocky Mount North Carolina. He was a production manager for Amstore in Muskegon and South Carolina for 27 years and an operations manager for other companies in the south until he retired. He is survived by his wife Betty Hoffman of Rocky Mount, NC. He loved Deer hunting, fishing and bowling and family activities. He has several mounted fish and deer to show off his skills. He was a very good carpenter and built 9 homes between Muskegon and the Carolina’s. Duane and Betty had 4 children: Teresa & Bert Crain of Travelers Rest, SC, Bruce & Debra Hoffman of Fruitport, Kristine & David Smith of Wilmington, NC, Rodney & Angela Hoffman of Rocky Mount, NC, 9 Grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Rose & Wilson Kruithoff of Kent City, Gloria & Albert Ashley of Cedar Springs, his brother Jack & Margaret Hoffman of Bailey, his step sister Beulah Bowden of Muskegon, his step brother Ray Blankenship, and his step mother Louise Hoffman of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his loving step mother Elizabeth Hoffman and his brother George Hoffman. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM from the McKinley Funeral Home Newaygo Chapel on Saturday, June 11, 2011 with Pastor Jim Tol officiating. Interment will be in Newaygo Cemetery.
