AmericanFlag-Animated.gifMr. William Velt Kamp, Jr., age 83 of Bailey, died Tuesday, May 31, 2011 in Fremont.   He was born William Velt Kamp, Jr. in Saugatuck, Michigan the son of Winifred (Worst) and William Velt Kamp, Sr. on October 13, 1927. He married Norma Jeanne Longcore on September 12, 1951 in Kent City. He was a Construction Worker for Cook Contracting in Flint retiring in 1972 after years of employment. He attended North Casnovia Baptist Church. He was a member of Operator Engineers #324; Kent City American Legion.  He was a veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from June 10, 1949 to November 20, 1952 when he was discharged as a CPL.

He is survived by his wife Norma Velt Kamp,  his children Billie & Jim Newsted of Fremont, Daniel & Gladys Velt Kamp of Grant, David & Jane Velt Kamp of Grant, Kathy U Larry Bennett of Belding, Joy & Terry Van Loon of Holton, Wesley & Peggy Velt Kamp of Grant, 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.  He was preceded in death by 3 brother and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the North Casnovia Baptist Church, Bailey on Friday, June 3, 2011 with Pastor Jamey Newsted & Pastor Aaron Shaw officiating. Interment is at theChubbuck‑Pinewood Cemetery near Kent City.  Visitation  will be held 3‑5 & 7‑9 PM Thursday at the McKinley Funeral Home ‑ Grant Chapel. AmericanFlag-Animated.gifMr. Joseph Fred Range, Age 88 of Newaygo, died Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Transitional Health Services near Fremont. He was born Joseph Fred Range in Huntington Woods, Michigan the son of Alice Ann (Grosjean) and Fred Range on May 27, 1922. He married Eileen G. Fleischacker on July 10, 1954 in Pontiac, Michigan and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on August 21, 2002. He worked for the city of Huntington Woods following graduation from high school. Later he worked for Chrysler Corp. until he was called into the service. He served with the US Army from January 1943 to February 1946. From 1947 to 1972 Joe was self employed working through Awrey Bakeries in Detroit. Joe & Eileen moved from Royal Oak, Michigan to Newaygo after purchasing the Village Green Golf Course in November 1977 which they ran together until their retirement in 1987. He was a life member VFW 4249 in Newaygo; the Newaygo Lions Club; and enjoyed the Village Green Monday Night Golf League. He is survived by his sons: Larry Ranger and fiance Kim Salicina of Newaygo, and Robert & Shirley Range of Ft. Myers, FL, his step children Barbara & Jack St. Germain of Ft. Myers, FL, Ronald & Diane Angeloff of Ft. Myers, FL, George & Gilda Angeloff of Ft. Myers, FL, several grandchildren, great grandchildren & Great Great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his brother Donald Range. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Funeral Home, Newaygo Chapel on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 with Mr. Jonathan Greene officiating. Interment will be in Roseland Park, Berkely, Michigan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Mr. John W. Wish, Age 85 of Newaygo died Monday, May 16, 2011 near Fremont.   He was born John W. Wish (Wisniewski) in Chicago, IL the son of Josephine (Kutas) and John Wisniewski on January 11, 1926. He married Shirley Delores Malick on December 5, 1973 in Chicago, IL and she preceded him in death on Febuary 10, 2009. He was a carpenter until his retirement.   He was a member of Newaygo United Methodist Church and a life member of VFW Post 4249.  He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from March 21, 1944 to June 1, 1946 when he was discharged as a PVT.  He is survived by his daughters Kathy Patack of Tinley Park, IL and Karen Wish, his step‑daughters Carolyn Sheller of White Cloud, Penny & Michael Harvey of Las Vegas, NV, Jackie Pons of Steinhatchee, FL, Adrienne & Charles Lockhart of Romeoville, IL, 6 grandchildren, 16 Great‑Grandchildren. John & Shirley foster over 225 kids through the years for Bethany Christian Services. He was also preceded in death by his son John J. Wish. Rachel Ann Williams passed peacefully in the arms of her family on May 12, 2011. She was was born at 1:41 PM on May 5, 2011, the daughter of Gerry and Brenda Williams. God granted Rachel to them for a wonderful seven days on earth to care for her and share her with several family members and friends. Rachel is now in heaven with our Lord Jesus Christ, Mary our Mother and all our loved ones that have gone before her. It is truly a miracle how such a little one with a short life can touch the hearts of so many people. Thank you for all your prayers. God Bless.

Rachel is survived by her parents Gerry & Brenda Williams, her sister Alexandria, her brothers Joshua &, Samuel , her grandparents Bill & Mary McKinley of Stanwood, JoAnn & Bill Snoderly of Baldwin, Helen Williams of Grant, great grandparents Colleen Abrahams of Grant, Ardy McKinley of Newaygo, many aunts, uncles, cousins.

AmericanFlag-Animated.gifMr. David Leslie Henning, Age 64 of Douglas, Michigan died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Holland. He was born David Leslie Henning in Fremont, Michigan the son of Lois M. (Larsen) and Edgar E. Henning on September 22, 1946. He was a welder for Elzinga & Volkers in Holland until his retirement in 2009. He was a member of American Legion Post, Holland. He is survived by his mother Lois Henning of Newaygo, his brother Don & Karen Henning of Big Rapids, his sister Anne Henning & Rick Stacey of Newaygo, and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father Edgar "Dutch" Henning in 2004.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Newaygo United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 14, 2011 with Pastor Pat Bromberek officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to time of service at the church. grandpaOn May 10th, 2011 Robert H. Mick of Grant, Mi age 86 went home to be with the Lord.

Robert was born in Lawrence County, Indiana in 1924 to Mary E. and Jay (“Red”) Mick. Robert served his country in WWII from 1943-1946 as a member of the US Army, 26th Calvary Reconnaissance Troup. During his service he drove reconnaissance vehicles, investigated terrain and located enemy positions. He also assisted as a gunner and voice radio operator during scouting missions. Robert was awarded the American Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Metal, Victory Medal and he is the recipient of the third-highest military decoration the Silver Star.

Beyond his military service Robert was an amazing father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves a legacy of strong love of family, deep integrity and steadfast perseverance. We rejoice that Dad’s passing is not a loss but a gain in eternal life and we shall see him again.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Velma and Jean, brothers Larry, Bill and Theodore. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Phyllis; his children, Mary Callahan (John Trent), Robert D. Mick, Cheryl Grover, Ron Mick (Shelly) and Candy Mick; grandchildren, Joe Moulden Jr, (Carrie), Merrie Bolin (Mike Westbrook), Becky Moore (Chad), Mike Callahan, April Richardson (Trevor), Jenny Laskey (Richard), Michael Smith (Jessica Heeringa.); great-grandchildren, Craig and Blair Moulden, Kelly and Ryan Moore, Brandon, Zachary and Justin Bolin, Bryanna, Matthew and Natalie Richardson, Trenton, Madalynn and Trace Laskey, and his brothers Don Media and Robert Harold.

Robert will be deeply missed by his special brother-in-law and sister in law Forrest and Pat Bower and many other extended family members and friends.

The Mick family would like to give appreciation to his in home nurse Mary Vanderlaan, nurse Amber Osborne from Metropolitan Hospital and Dr. Cindy Bos from the Veterans Clinic of Grand Rapids for the wonderful care he received.
