Jeffery Lynn Cronk, 54, of Newaygo passed away very unexpectedly on Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Copemish, Michigan.
Jeff was born January 12, 1956 in Grant at the Deur Clinic to Robert F. and Sharon L. (Purdy) Cronk. He is survived by his wife, Wendy of Newaygo; sons, Bryce (Megan Router) of Newaygo, Myles (Hannah Harrington) of Grand Rapids, and Symon of Newaygo; parents, Robert F. and Sharon Cronk of Newaygo; siblings, Robert K. of Newaygo, Steven of Newaygo, Cathy (Rod) Lesley of Grant, Tim (Chris) of Newaygo, Carlos (Dana) Gonzalez of Spring Lake; mother and father-in-law, Herbert and Ruth Simons of Newaygo; in-laws, Scott (Theresa) Simons of Newaygo, Judy Simons of Newaygo, Matt Simons of Oxford.
Jeff was preceded in death by grandparents, Lewis Purdy and Louise Jacobson; brother-in-law, Mark Simons; and nephew, Thomas Gonzalez.
Jeff graduated with honors from Newaygo High School in 1974 and attended Ferris State. He began working in the family business as a teenager. Through hard work and brilliant business skills, he purchased Cronk ACE Hardware from his father, Robert Cronk, in 1990; which has been an important landmark in Newaygo since 1967 and is still going family-strong today. Jeff was always the one to go to with questions. He was very knowledgeable and creative. No problem could stump him.
He was a very caring man who loved his family dearly. He was a constant presence at his sons’ sporting events and donated much time and money to help these programs be successful for all the children of the community. He served on many committees teaching his children the importance of giving back to his community. He will always be remembered for his great smile, shining eyes, caring ways, and wonderful sense of humor. He made everyone he met feel special and important. His caring continues with his participation as an organ donor through the Gift of Life.
A memorial mass to celebrate Jeff’s life will be held Friday, December 3, 2010 at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 599 Brooks, Newaygo, at 11:00 a.m. with Father Peter Schafer and Father Loc Trinh co-celebrating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider a memorial donation to the Newaygo Public Schools Jeff Cronk Scholarship. Ms. Elisabeth E. Timmer, age 75 of Newaygo, died of accidental injuries after being struck by an automobile near her home in Brooks Township, Thursday, November 25, 2010. She was born Elisabeth Emily Timmer in Newaygo, Michigan the daughter of Emily (Rust) and John Labertus Timmer on April 14, 1935. She was a Mail Carrier for Gerber Products, Fremont until 1998 retiring after 37 years. She was a member of Grace Bible Church ‑ Newaygo.
She is survived by her brother John & Andrea Timmer of Arizonia, sister Marthy & John Deuling of Newaygo, and brrother‑in‑Law: Larry Reiley of Muskegon.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grace Bible Church, Newaygo on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 with Pastor officiating. Interment will be in the Newaygo Cemetery with Pastor Wally Dawson officiating. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 PM Monday at the McKinley Funeral Homes – Newaygo Chapel. Mr. Albert John Wendt, Age 73 of Newaygo, died Sunday, November 21, 2010 in Fremont. He was born Albert John Wendt in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Marie (Schmidt) and Herman Otto Wendt on August 7, 1937. He married Lucille Glendora Kipp on October 24, 1966 in Saginaw, Michigan. He was an inspector for several automotive factories in Michigan until his retirement. He is survived by his wife Lucille Wendt of Newaygo, his daughters Dawn & Tim Gillette of Midland, Nanette, Regina & Jeff Turner of Zeeland, Charlene & Glenn Rhodes of Daytona, FL, Tonya & Perry Bolin of Newaygo, 11 grandchildren, his sisters Kay, Sharon and Karen, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Michael Leroy Minzey, age 60, of Newaygo, died Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at home. He was born Michael Leroy Minzey in Muskegon, the son of Josephine Leota (Golden) and Clayton Junior Minzey on March 2, 1950. He married Gretchen Diane on February 7, 1975 in Fremont, Michigan. He was a disabled veteran having served in the Vietnam War with the Army. He is survived by his wife Gretchen Minzey of Newaygo, his son David Leroy Minzey of Grant, daughter Michelle Lee & Adam Schiller of Fennville, his grandson Michael Schiller of Fennville, his brothers Alan & Peggy Minzey of Belding, Timothy & Betty Minzey of Alabama, Pete & Marian Minzey of Greenville, his sisters Susan & Perry Hall of Hesperia, Carla & Robert Hendricks of Hesperia, Pam & Terry Bailey of Greenville, and Lillian & Steve of Greenville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Dennis Dan. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the Ft. Custer National Cemetery, in Augusta on Monday, November 22, 2010. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 5-7 PM at McKinley Funeral Home, Newaygo. Memorials contributions may be made to the Paralyzed Veterans of America.
Esther Erwood, born June 2, 1926, died Nov. 12, 2010 at Gerber Hospital. Esther worked many years in the family dry cleaners and later worked in food service for the Newaygo Schools. She was married to Billy Erwood in 1981 and he preceded her in death. A son, Tim Korhorn, Brothers Ralph, Henry and Herman Hulst also preceded her in death.
She is survived by one daughter, Corrine Christiansen and one step son Jon (Heidi) Erwood, several grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and a very special friend Sherri Dutcher.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM on Friday, Nov. 19 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo with Steve Hulst officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. For memorials please consider Hospice of Michigan.
Mr. James Louis Hardenburgh, Age 68 of Newaygo, died Monday, November 15, 2010 in Fremont. He was born James Louis Hardenburgh in Muskegon, Michigan the son of Rosalie Ruth (Sheely) and James Wesley Hardenburgh on March 27, 1942. He married Judith Anne Kridler Malinski on January 16, 1976 in Rockford. He was a Metal Finisher for North West Metal Products. He is survived by his wife Judith Hardenburgh of Newaygo, his children Christopher, Teresa, James Scott, Patty, James David, Tammy, Robert, Tami, his sisters Patsy & Rob Ruiter and Janet & Bob Parker.

Lopez – Mrs Martha Lopez, aged 86 of Grant, died Monday at Spectrum Health-Kent Community Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born Bartola Martha Sanchez March 2, 1924 the daughter of Pillar (Flores) and Guadalupe Sanchez. She was an inspector at Sparta Piston Ring for 12 years retiring in 1984. Martha was a communicant of the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo.
She is survived by her husband Vicente Lopez, several nieces & nephews and her 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Mexico.
Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, November 17, 2010 at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo with Father Paul Milanowski as Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bartholomew Cemetery. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday at the Church.

Mrs. Janet M. Cook, age 67 of Howard City, died Monday, November 15, 2010 at her home in Ensley Township. She was born Janet Mae McBeth in Kansas City, Kansas the daughter of Joyce Vanette (Synder) and Joseph McBeth on February 15, 1943. She married Marland Lee Cook on October 8, 1976 in Ensley Township. She was a Home Maker.
She is survived by her husband Marland Cook, her children John & Lisa Blair of Kalamazoo, Michael & Maria Blair of Grandville, Kevin & Jami Blair of Wyoming, Sandy Cook of Howard City, Timothy Cook of Howard City, Douglas Cook & Linda of Greenville, Brian & Shelly Cook of Greenville, Lynn & Michael Biehl of Hawaii, special granddaughter Cassie, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, her sister Judy & Richard Jones of Alabama. She was preceded in death by sons Terry & Ben.

Mrs. Mary L. Moore, age 62 of Bailey, died Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at her home in Casnovia Township. She was born Mary Louise Cramblit in Muskegon, the daughter of Margaret Mary (Hughson) and William Darwin Cramblit on May 13, 1948. She married Robert Earl Moore on March 3, 1967 in Kent County. She was a Home maker.
She is survived by her husband Robert Moore, her daughters Tina Bazzett of Rockford, Teresa DesVoignes of Lakewood, Washington, Tonya & Abe Rodriguez of Newaygo, her grandchildren Tad Jr, Samantha, Miranda, Jack, Mandy, Jacob, Jenna, her sister Brenda.

Mr. Barney Malone, aged 90, of Newaygo, died Sunday, November 7, 2010 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility near Fremont. He was born B – M Malone Jr., July 27, 1920 in Seymour, Texas the son of Hattie (Gwinn) and Barney Modest Malone. He married Wanda “Ginger” M. Rogers October 1, 1942 in Seymour, Texas. Barney was a repairman A for Consumers Energy for 29 years retiring in 1983. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Navy being discharged as a Chief Signalman in 1945. Barney was a Life Member of the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo and the Croton American Legion Post #381. He was also a member of the Newaygo County Sportsman’s Club and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by his wife Ginger, children Janet & Lynnwood Mast of White Cloud, Michael & Laura Malone of Newaygo, Mitchell Malone of Sarasota, Florida, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 sister and 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
Military Honors will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 12, 2010, at the VFW Post #4249 Newaygo under the auspices of the VFW Post #4249.
