Mr. Michael S. McCaffrey, age 41 of Newaygo, died suddenly Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his home. He was born Michael Sean McCaffrey in San Jose, California the son of Ruth Charlotte (Roos) and Dennis McCaffrey on November 17, 1968. He owned and operated Saior Custom Furniture Refinishing.
He is survived by his son Timothy Graham, his daughter Rachel McCaffrey, his father Dennis & Katherine McCaffrey, his sister Erin Ludwick, and his brothers Roger & Olga Ederer, Ronald Ederer, Michael & Amy Ederer and 12 nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Ruth McCaffrey.

Mrs. Dorothy A. Pomarius, Age 90 of Howard City, Michigan died Sunday, July 25, 2010 in Big Rapids. She was born Dorothy A. LeClaer the daughter of Alethea (Angell) and John M. LeClaer on February 26, 1920. She married Donald Ruhf Pomarius in 1950 in Grand Rapids and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2001. She is survived by her sons Boyd Pomarius of Las Vegas, NV, Brad Pomarius of Newaygo, MI, and Donald "Nick" Pomarius of Markleeville, CA. Cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Mrs. Marlene M. Longcore, age 68 of Kent City, Michigan died Thursday, July 22, 2010 at her home in Grant Township. She was born Marlene Marie Munz in Detroit, the daughter of Dorothea (Kauffman) and Carl P. Munz on September 12, 1941. She married Thomas Carl Longcore on February 26, 1994 in Conklin. She was a Secretary for Meijers and Interstate Trucking in Grand Rapids until 2009 retiring after many years. She was a member of Red Hat Ladies and the Stamping Up Club.
She is survived by her husband Thomas Longcore of Kent City, children Russ & Lori Tryon of Grant, Carla & Shawn Hills of Las Vegas, NV, LeAnn & Jim Ingell, Lynette & Jason Richards all of Grant, her step sons Fred & Cheryl Rose of Fremont, Rog & Rhonda Rose of Grant, 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, her sister Elaine & Aubrey Heatley.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Monday, July 26, 2010 with Rev. Eric Coulon officiating. Interment will be in Chubbuck‑Pinewood Cemetery near Kent City. Mrs. Anna L. Crouch, age 86 of Newaygo, died suddenly Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. She was born Anna Louise Cross in Barryton, Michigan the daughter of Mabel (Chambers) and Clyde Cross on August 17, 1923. She was a Press Operator for Metal Craft until 1981 retiring after 27 years.
She is survived by her children William Crouch & Kathy McNinch of Belding, Daniel Crouch of California, Patricia & Roger Smigiel of Newaygo, James & Patricia Crouch of North Carolina, 7 grandchildren, 10 great‑grandchildren, 2 great‑great‑grandchildren. She was preceded in death by daughter Lori Crouch in 1974, and her two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Thursday, July 15, 2010 with Pastor Wesley Smith officiating. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to service.

Mrs. Gertrude Boersma, Age 88 of Newaygo, Michigan died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. She was born Gertrude Gouwens in South Holland, Illinois the daughter of Jennie (Witvielt) and Tys T. Gouwens on October 30, 1921. She married Garrett Raymond Boersma on January 17, 1941 in Hammond, Indiana and he preceded her in death on October 11, 2001. She was a Homemaker all her life, was a member of Grant Reformed Church, and an Avid scuffle board & golf player.
She is survived by her children Darlene & Ray Botma of Newaygo, Larry & Barbara Boersma of Newaygo, Nancy & Ken DeYoung of St. John’s, IN, Jerry & Bonnie Boersma of Highland, IN, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sister Marian & Vern Churchill of South Holland, IL, sisters in law Nettie Gouwens of South Holland, IL, Mary Ann Gouwens of Schererville, IN, Pat Gouwens of Demotte, IN. She was preceded in death by Daughter Barbara Jean Boersma, grandson Stewart Boersma, great granddaughter Nicole DeYoung, 6 brothers & 1 sister.
Visitation will be held 2‑4:30 PM Sunday and funeral services will be held at 4:30 PM from the McKinley Funeral Home in Grant, Michigan, on Sunday, July 11, 2010 with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating. Theresa (nee Novath) Sabo, aged 97, of Fremont and formerly of Grant, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility near Fremont. She was born in Budapest, Hungary, March 19, 1913 and came to America when she was 2 years old becoming a citizen June 7, 1943 in White Cloud. She was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during World War II, and worked at Continental Motors in Muskegon where they made engines for tanks and other fighting vehicles, retiring May 31, 1972 after 29 years.
She is survived by her children Anthony & Del Sabo of Kentwood, Michael Sabo of Fremont, Betty Ann Higgins of Grant, 11 grandchildren, many great and great great grandchildren, sister Rose Gardner of Nevada and brother Louis Novath of Colorado and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Theresa Ann, 4 sisters, 4 brothers and son in law James R. Higgins, Sr.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Grant Community Church with Pastor Steve Vander West officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. Mr. Joshua C. Cook, age 21 of Fremont, died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Grand Rapids. He was born Joshua Caleb Cook in Fremont, the son of Kathryn Jo (Henry) and Michael Richard Cook on October 14, 1988. He was a General Laborer for Skytron, Grand Rapids.
He is survived by his parents Michael & Kathryn Cook, his brother Jonathon Cook,his sisters Paige Cook, Shannon Cook, Grandpa Paul Cook, Great‑grandma: Kate Christoffersen all of Fremont, and several Aunts, Uncles, & Cousins.

Mrs. Myrtis M. Howarth, age 86, of Newaygo died Friday, July 2, 2010 near Fremont. She was very active in the American Legion Post #381 in Croton. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter F. Howarth in 1978. She is survived by her children Richard & Jeanette Howarth and Janet & Joseph Noorthoek both of Croton, 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, her sisters Eloise & Don Aucion of Louisiana and Mary Guillory of Mississippi and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo with Pastor Harry Bultema officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Sunday. Interment will be in Croton Cemetery.
