Mrs. Karil J. Longcore, age 55 of Kent City, died Monday, December 28, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.   She was born Karil Jane Hesse in Fremont, the daughter of Nellie Margaret (Hickman) and Willard John Hesse on October 18, 1954. She married Gregory Lee Longcore on April 6, 1974 in Kent City. She was a Homemaker all her life and was a member of Kenty City American Legion Auxiliary.     

She is survived by her husband Gregory Longcore, her son Craig & Tina Longcore of Bailey, her daughter Beckie & Eric Jensen of Kent City, her grandchildren Lauren Longcore, Delanie Jensen,  Webb Longcore, her brothers Karl & Peggy Hesse of Newaygo, Charlie & Kathy Hesse of Grant, her sister Cheryl & Fred Rose of Fremont, several brothers & sisters in‑law and several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Reformed Church, on Thursday, December 31, 2009 with Pastor Mik Sutton officiating. Interment will be in the Chubbuck‑Pinewood Cemetery near Kent City.   Visitation will be held 2‑4 & 7‑9 PM Wednesday at McKinley Funeral Home, Grant Chapel. Mr. Joe Grabill, Age 78 of Grant, died Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Grant Fountain View Retirement Village. He was born Joe Grabill in White Cloud, the son of Elsie (Mast) and Ray Grabill on July 27, 1931.   He was an Assembler for Delphi of General Motors until 1997.   He was a member of Newaygo VFW Post #4249.

He is survived by his twin‑sister Joyce & Tom Murphy of Irving, TX, sisters‑in‑law June Grabill of Grant, Donna & John Martin of St. James, FL, nephews & nieces Dale & Lora Jean Grabill, Sally & Jerry Puite, Dennis Grabill all of Grant, Terry & Al Pearce of Georgia, Marcia Murphy, John Murphy, Sharon Murphy all of Texas, Gary & Phyllis Grabill of Detroit.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Paul, Louis, & Collin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Monday, December 28, 2009 with Rev. Charles Fry officiating. Interment in White Cloud Cemetery.   Visitation will be held 6‑8 PM Sunday. For Memorials VFW Post #4249 Newayg Flag Memorial Fund. Military honors will be under the Auspices of the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo.

Mrs. Connie L. Sharpe, age 79 of Fremont, and formerly of Newaygo died Saturday, December 19, 2009 at her home in Fremont.   She was born Connie L. Thompson in Newaygo, the daughter of Ruth (Osborne) and Arthur Thompson on September 18, 1930. She married Clifford Sharpe and he preceded her in death. She was a Homemaker all her life.    

She is survived by her children Clifford Gerald & Tina Sharp of Manton, Gail & Glenn Hamilton of Georgia, Joyce & Tim Corbin, Timothy & Clara Sharpe all of Kingman, AZ, 18 grandchildren, 27 great‑grandchildren, several great‑great‑ grandchildren, her sister Vera Mae Shutts of Newaygo. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Dale Thompson and Phil "Pete" Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the Newaygo New Life Community Church, on Wednesday, December 23, 2009.  Interment will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Croton Township.   Visitation will be one hour prior to service. For Memorials please consider the NCCS.

Mr. Earl Richard Stuart, Age 84 of Grant died Friday, December 18, 2009. He was born Earl Richard Stuart in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Verna Mae (Bickel) and Charles Henry Stuart on May 2, 1925. He married Betty Maxine Guthrie and she preceded him in death on October 27, 2000. He was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service until his retirement after 30 years. He was a member of Grant United Church of Christ. He was a life member of V.F. W. Post #4249 where he was a past post commander and a member of the Cooties. He is survived by his children Sue & Jim Patterson of Grant, Cheryl & David Koopman of Grant, Charles & Cynthia Stuart of Grant, Barb & Tom VanderMolen of Savannah, MO, Cindy & Jan Grossman of Grant, Tom & Connie Stuart of Grant, Chris & Greg Wright of Grant, 19 Grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, his brothers Don & Darla Stuart of Rockford and Lyle & Mickie Stuart of Texas. Memorial services will be held at the Grant United Church of Christ, at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 with Pastor Steve VanderWest officiating. Mrs. Arlene Mae Ridderikhoff, Age 82 of Newaygo died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 in Fremont. She was born Arlene Mae Hasted in Newaygo, Michigan the daughter of Fern (Crofoot) and Joseph Hasted on February 24, 1927. She married John Ridderikhoff on October 15, 1948 in Newaygo and he preceded her in death on October 17, 1986. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Newaygo United Church of Christ. She is survived by her sons Robert & Linda Ridderikhoff, William R. Ridderikhoff of Newaygo, her Daughter in Law Marsha Reindl, her grandchildren William Eric Ridderikhoff, Brent Ridderikhoff, Tracy & Troy Saunby, Ryan & Kristen Ridderikhoff, her great grandchildren T.J Saunby,  Taelor Christine Saunby, Emilia Gracy Ridderikhoff and Logan Reid Ridderikhoff, her sisters Mary Sparks  and Sharon Hasted of Big Rapids. She was preceded in death by her daughter Elaine M. Ridderikhoff, her sister Doris Melvin and her brothers Keith Hasted and Gene Hasted. Funeral services will be held at the Newaygo United Church of Christ at 2:30 PM on Sunday, December 20, 2009 with Pastor Ruth McCarty officiating. Interment will be in Newaygo Cemetery. Mrs. Marjorie M. Gustman, age 90 of Fremont, formerly of Newaygo died Thursday, December 3, 2009 in the Newaygo Medical Care Facility near Fremont.   She was born Marjorie Marie Peacock in Newaygo, the daughter of Minnie (Klink) and Frank Peacock on March 10, 1919. She married Viler Ellsworth Gustman on August 1, 1936 in White Cloud and he preceded her in death on December 31, 1999. She  Owned & Operated Gustman’s Tack Shop for many years.        

She is survived by her children Jack & Patricia Gustman, Patty Venneman of Newaygo, Linda & Brian Cole of Newaygo, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchidlren.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter Doris VanSickle in 1997.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Newaygo Chapel, on Monday, December 7, 2009 with Pastor Lucky Fulton officiating. Interment will be in the Newaygo Cemetery.   Visitation will be held 2‑4 & 6‑7 PM Sunday. Mrs. Arden Dell Jordan, Age 72 of Ravenna died Monday, November 30, 2009 in Muskegon. She was born Arden Dell Omans in Newaygo, Michigan the daughter of Jessie (Beeman) and Paul Omans on July 16, 1937. She was a homemaker. She was a member of North Chester Baptist Church. She is survived by her children Dan Jordan of Hesperia, Case Jordan of Belleville, Valerie & Douglas Bickle of Cedar Springs and Julie & John Womble of Ravenna, her grandchildren Jennifer, Katie, Brett, Johnny, Ashley, Megan and Amy, her brothers Marion & Carol Omans of Casnovia and Marlin Omans of Kent City and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the North Chester Baptist Church, Casnovia on Friday, December 4, 2009 with Pastor George Cripe officiating. Interment in East Nelson Township Cemetery.
