Mr. Kenneth E. Bull, age 97 of Newaygo,  died Monday, September 21, 2009 at his home in Brooks Township.   He was born Kenneth Ernest Bull in Bailey, the son of Ethel May (Brown) and John Kelly Bull on February 20, 1912.   He married Pauline F. Morrison April 3, 1936 in Newaygo and she preceded him in death May 14, 2005. He was a prominent Fruit Farmer being the owner/operator of the Moon Lake Orchards, Bailey for 60 years until his retirement. He was a member of Grant United Church of Christ where he very active, the Casnovia Masonic Lodge for 50 years; Trustee of the Michigan State Horticultural Society, Farm Bureau for the county and state levels, served as president of the Kent City State Bank Board, member of the Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company, served on the Grant Hospital Board, the Farm Bureau State Board, the Casnovia Township Board for 30 years and enjoyed playing golf.    

He is survived by children Nancy Bull of Solvang, CA, John & Karon Bull of Manistee, Diane Horrisberger of Bailey, K. Timothy & Linda Bull of Kent City, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and his brother Rodney & June Bull of Newaygo.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A. M from the Grant United Church of Christ, on Friday, September 25, 2009 with Pastor Steve Vander West officiating. Interment will be in the Seaman Cemetery near Bailey.   Visitation will be held 7‑9 PM Thursday and Friday one hour prior to the service at the Grant United Church of Christ . Eleanor M. Tjalma, aged 86 passed away Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Fountain View Retirement Village in Fremont. She was born Eleanor Mae Truman December 30, 1922 in Newaygo, the daughter of Dora Mae (Stone) and Arthur Stanley Truman. She moved to Holland and married John Tjalma in 1969 and he preceded her in death March 2, 2002 after 32 years. She was an Accountant at Holland Hitch for 25 years retiring in 1985. After John’s death she moved back to Newaygo. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newaygo.

She is survived by her children Nettie & Paul Smith, Bill Gonyon, Janet Malone & Mike Lantz all of Newaygo, her grandchildren Lisa & Jim Junewick of Sparta, Brian & Tabitha Smith of Mason, David Gonyon of Lowell, and her great-grandchildren Sabrina & Brysen Smith of Mason.

The family will meet with relatives and friends 6:00 – 7:30 PM Monday, September 21, 2009 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo. A Private graveside service will be held at the Newaygo Cemetery. Mrs. Vivian A. Taylor, aged 71, of Grant went to be with her Lord Wednesday, September 16, 2009.  She was born Vivian Alice Rubingh January 19, 1938 in Grand Rapids the daughter of Leah Marjorie (Nelson) and Gerald Edward Rubingh.  She married George Ora Taylor September 9, 1955 in Kent City.  Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Grant Community Church.

She is survived by her husband Rev. George Taylor, her children Adah & John Monje of Comstock Park, Ruth & Jeff Bennett of Chattanooga, TN, George Taylor Jr. of Wyoming, Mark & Paula Taylor of Grant, 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her brothers and sisters Elinor Swenson of WI, Margaret Kryger of KS, Gerald Rubingh Jr. of NV, Sandra Rubingh of Grant, Gloria & Don Herczeg of Grand Rapids, Rebekah & Terry Rust of Howard City.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, September 21, 2009 at the Algoma Baptist Church, 10515 Grange NE, Rockford 49341, with Pastor Dave Fernland officiating. Mrs. Colleen Marie Kellogg, Age 81 of Newaygo, died Wednesday, September 16, 2009 in Fremont. She was born Colleen Marie Harris in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of Marcella (Mitchell) and John Harris on December 7, 1927. She married James H. Kellogg on June 26, 1948 in Grand Rapids. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Christ the King Church, Howard City. She is survived by her husband James Kellogg of Newaygo, her children James Kellogg and Mary Cherney of Muskegon, Cindy & Mike Kiaunis of Grand Haven, Thomas & Shari Kellogg of Conklin, 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, her brother John Harris of Walker, several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sons Scott Kellogg and John Kellogg and her sisters Pat Stewart, Winifred Schmucker, and Virginia Ensley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Christ the King Church, Howard City on Saturday, September 19, 2009 with Father Ray Bruck officiating. Interment in Mt. Mr. Reynaldo Ochoa‑Alvarez, Age 75 of Newaygo, Michigan died Tuesday, September 08, 2009 in Muskegon.   He was born Reynaldo Ochoa‑Alvarez in Jalisco, Mexico the son of Epigmenia Alvarez (Herrera) and Cirilo Ochoa Nunez on August 15, 1934. He married Maria Arteaga‑Mendoza on 1956 in Mexico. He was a Agricultural Worker for Van Singel Farms until . He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.       

He is survived by his wife: Maria Arteaga‑Ochoa, his children Ignacio Ochoa, Santos Ochoa,  Teresa Ochoa, Adan Ochoa, Maria Ochoa, Maria Angelica Ochoa, Leonardo Ochoa, Monica Ochoa, nany grandchildren & great‑grandchildren, 5 brothers & sisters.

The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 5:00 PM from the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo on Friday, September 11, 2009 with Father Pete Schafer officiating. Interment in St. Bartholomew Cemetery.   Visitation 4‑5 PM Thursday at McKinley Grant Chapel and 3:30 ‑ 5 PM Friday at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.

Ms. Trisha M. Ulrich, age 30 of Newaygo, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at her home in Brooks Township.   She was born Trisha Marie Ulrich in Midland, the daughter of Julia May (Davis) and Richard Alan Ulrich on October  26,  1978.          

She is survived by her parents Richard & Julia Ulrich of Newaygo, her sisters Tabbitha & Mark Boonstra, Tomi & Joe Dausman, her grandparents Howard & Connie VanAuken, Ellen Ulrich, 6 nieces & nephews, numerous aunts & uncles and many friends,

A Memorial celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM from her home, 3538 E. 82nd, Newaygo on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with Judy Corey officiating. There will be no visitation. For Memorials please consider Hospice of Michigan.

Mrs. Winifred M. Haring, age 91 of Grant, died Monday, September 7, 2009 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont.   She was born Winifred Margaret Blais in Muskegon, the daughter of Ectarine Ruth (Perigard) and George Blais on October 2, 1917. She married Julian Loveless Haring on February 5, 1945 in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1982. She was a Florist for Fairview Floral of Fremont until 1980 after many years. She was a communicant of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.      

She survived by her children Archie Haring of Grant, Cherie Snead of Glen Burnie, MD, Deb & Lanny Braybrook,  Jay & Diane Haring, Deen Haring, Tyler & Joyce Haring all of Grant, 10 grandchildren, 10 great‑grandchildren.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM from the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Newaygo on Thursday, September 10, 2009 with Father Pete as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Bartholomew Cemetery.   Visitation  will be held 2‑4 & 7‑9 PM Wednesday with a Rosary Service at 7 PM at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.  For Memorials please consider the Ashland‑Grant Fire Department.

Mr. Ronald L. Faurot, age 51 of Grant, went to be with his Lord Saturday, September 5, 2009 from St. Mary’s Health Care in Grand Rapids.   He was born Ronald Leroy Faurot in Grand Rapids, the son of Geraldine Lee (Harrison) and Ronald Leroy Faurot on June 8, 1958. He married Kristy Lynne Porter on April 16, 1977 in Bailey. He was presently a Principal for Plainwell High School. He was a member of Resurrection Life Church of Newaygo.      

He is survived by his wife Kristy Faurot, his sons Brandon & Erica Faurot of Sparta, Brett & Shannon Faurot of Grant, his grandchildren Australyah, Irelynn & Kale, his parents Ronald & Gerry Faurot , his brothers Bill & Rose Faurot, Jeff & Kathy Faurot all of Grant.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM from the Resurrection Life Church of Newaygo, on Thursday, September 10, 2009,  with Pastor Paul Ruzinsky officiating.     Visitation will be held Wednesday 2‑4 & 6‑9 PM at the McKinley Funeral Homes in Grant.

Hanegan "Mellon" – Mrs. Dorothy M. "Mellon" Hanegan, age 93 of Grant, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Newaygo Medical Care Facility near Fremont.   She was born Dorothy Marie Forman in Rockford, the daughter of Hazel Anna (Truax) and Edward Delmo Forman on October 14, 1915. She married Milford Everett Mellon on June 25, 1932 in Goshen, Indiana and he preceded her in death on December 25, 1965. She then married James Hanegan on June 23, 1969 in Grant and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1982. She was a Home Maker and was a member of Grant United Church of Christ.      

She is survived by her children Milford & Janice Mellon of Grant, Richard & Elizabeth Mellon of Mt Perry, OH, Sue Ann Buonopane of Rockland, MA, 8 grandchildren, 7 great‑grandchildren, sister Geraldine Wookcox of Grant, brother Donald & Mary Forman of Kent City.  She was preceded in death by grandchildren Ann Marie Mellon and James Mellon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Sunday, September 6, 2009 with officiating. Interment will be at a later time in the Ashland Center Cemetery near Grant.   Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Mr. Michael Laverne Krause, Age 64 of Newaygo, Michigan died Friday, September 4, 2009 in Fremont. He was born Michael Laverne Krause in Muskegon, Michigan the son of Marie Mildred (Johnson) and William Frederick Krause on December 11, 1944. He was a Police Officer from Nov. 1966 until June 1993 for the city of Muskegon retiring after 26 years. He was a life member FOP of Twin Lake, and an avid hunter & fisherman. He is survived by his son Mike & Tammy Krause, his daughter Missy & Mike Kelley of Indian Rocks Beach, FL, his step‑son James Sliwinski & Deb Zak of Bridgeton, his grandchildren Henry & Rachel, Becky & Nick, Eli, Ellen, Alex, & Taylor, Leah, and Alaina, and his great‑granddaughter Selina, his brother Frank & Mary Ann Krause of Lamont, his sisters Karen & Hugh Betz of Traverse City, Karlene & Jeremy Green of Brighton, and several nieces & nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM from the FOP ‑ Twin Lake, on Saturday, September 12, 2009 with the FOP Chaplain officiating. For memorials please consider the FOP of Twin Lake.
