Mr. Dale Louis Whitney, Age 61 of Bailey died at home. He was born Dale Louis Whitney in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Bernice (Campbell) and Thurlow Whitney on February 21, 1948. He married Denise Hall on May 21, 1984 in Muskegon, Michigan. He was a truck driver for Gerber Products until his retirement in 2006. He was a veteran having served in the Army during the Vietnam War from January 12, 1968 to December 17, 1969 when he was discharged as a Specialist 4 (T). He is survived by his wife Denise Whitney of Bailey, his children Michele Van Dyke of Fremont, Scott & Brenda Whitney of Newaygo, Teri & Dave Smedley of Spring Lake, Paul Whitney of Bailey, Jon Whitney of Bailey, 3 grandchildren, his brother Rodney & Ardith Whitney of Bailey, his sister Ruth Ann & Bill Hoaglin of Bailey, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Bailey Christian Church on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 with Mr. Daren Penwell officiating. Interment in Seaman Cemetery. Mrs. Betty Lou Crandell, Age 77 of Grant, died Sunday, August 16, 2009 in Grand Rapids. She was born Betty Lou Alcorn in Flint, Michigan the daughter of Eva May (Kecker) and Elias Alcorn on December 12, 1931. She married James Arthur Crandell on December 26, 1947 in Eckerman, Michigan and he preceded her in death on August 9, 1987. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her children May & Jeff McDonald of Newaygo, Thomas & Kathy Crandall of Grant, Betty & Robert Edgar of Grant, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, her brothers Buck Alcorn of Temple, Dale Alcorn of Grant, her sisters Pat Brock of Bailey, Ruth & Larry Brock of Grant and her brother in law Ken Welch of Morley. She was preceded in death by her son James in 1968, her grandson Allen in 2003, and her husband James in 1987. Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Hillside Cemetery near Grant on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 with George Taylor officiating. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Terry L. Krikke, age 57 of Big Rapids, formerly of Grant, died Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the home of his son Christoper in Big Rapids Township. He was born Terry Lee Krikke in Grant, the son of Joan (Roeters) and Milton Junior Krikke on August 21, 1951. He was a self employed for carpenter for many years. He was a veteran having served in the Army during the Vietnam War from January 20, 1971 to April 24, 1972 when he was discharged as a SP 4.
He is survived by his children Jeremy Krikke, Ryan Krikke both of Grant, Melanie & Dan Dunn of Howard City, Christopher Krikke of Big Rapids, Nicholas Krikke of Utah, his mother Joan Krikke of Grant, his sisters and brother Betty Jane & Kirk Brink of Grand Rapids, Gary Krikke of Grant, Sue & Al Clone of Onondaga, 7 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Milton Krikke in 2002,
Funeral graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM at the Hillside Cemetery, near Grant on Saturday, August 22, 2009 with A.J. McKinley officiating. There will be no visitation. Aliyan Marie Shook, of Kent City, died shortly before birth Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. She is the daughter of Ashley (Stuart) and James Willard Shook IV.
She is also survived by her brother Ethan Shook, grandparents Carmen & Mark Presler, Thomas & Connie Stuart, James & Dorothy Shook, great‑grandparents Margaret Sanborn, Earl Stuart, several aunts, uncles, & cousins.
