Mr. Timothy A. Taylor, age 59 of Newaygo, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at Mercy Partners-Sherman Campus in Muskegon.   He was born Timothy Allen Taylor in Muskegon, the son of Shirley Jean (Frier) and John Samuel Taylor on September 15, 1949. He married Linda Sue Richardson on August 18, 2007 in Newaygo. He enlisted in the Navy in 1967 and served his country for four years active duty. After military duty, he attended Grand Valley State University, obtaining a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science. He was employed by Lacks Industries of Grand Rapids as a programmer and network administrator for several years until his early retirement in 2007. Tim was an active participant at VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo, serving as an officer in both the Men’s Auxiliary and Dad’s Post #50. Tim was a member of the Post’s Honor Guard, participated in many events at the Post starting in his early teens, for years helping organize the chicken BBQ on the Fourth of July and Labor Day dinners, initiated both the Pool League and the Horseshoe tournaments and was there to help if the job had to be done to support his Comrades and fellow Veterans. Tim was an avid golfer and loved to play at Village Green and he helped organized many of the VFW Annual Charity Golf Outings. He was also a member of the Croton American Legion and the Harley Owner’s Group (HOGs). He enjoyed hunting, motorcycling and also fishing on the Muskegon River, where he and his brother Michael were successful fishing guides in their early teens. Tim rarely missed the annual “Fish Busters” event, helping clean up the river he loved. 

He is survived by his wife Linda Taylor, his daughters Sherry McCallum of Wayland, Melony Zarafonetis of Savanna, GA, his son Shayne & Sharon Taylor of Lodiwici, GA, his step‑children Laura & Mark Moore, Steve Bullis all of Raleigh, NC, nine kids called him grandpa Tim, his mother Shirley Taylor of Newaygo, his sisters Linda & Charles Grams of Hesperia, Patricia & Terry York of Newaygo, the mother of children Eileen Taylor of Grand Rapids, several nieces & nephews,.  preceded in death by his father John Taylor, and his brothers John, Jr. at birth and Michael Taylor.,

Cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM from the VFW Post #4249, Newaygo on Sunday, July 26, 2009 with Chaplain Leo Rathbun officiating.  The family will meet relatives and friend 1‑3 PM Sunday prior to the memorial service.  In lieu of flowers please consider the Camp Trotter Fund to send kids to camp. Mrs. Wendy Jo Kilmer, age 43 of White Cloud, passed into the arms of Jesus, Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.   She was born Wendy Jo Evans in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Donna Faye (Schaafsma) and Robert James Evans, Jr. on April 16, 1966. She married James Edward Kilmer, Jr. on August 3, 1984 in Jenison. She was a Homemaker all her life and was a member of the Fremont Wesleyan Church.      

She is survived by her husband James Kilmer, her son Shaun Kilmer, her father Bob & Louise Evans of Byron Center, her mother Donna Evans of Jamestown, her brother Scott & Carolyn Evans of Jenison, sister Beth Evans of Byron Center, her parents‑in‑law Jim & Esther Kilmer, Sr. of Jenison, her grandma Eunice Kilmer of Jenison, her sister‑in‑law Cindy & Paul Beauchamp of Byron Center, her brother‑in‑law Dan Kilmer of White Cloud, her uncles/aunts Phil & Sue Schaafsma of Comstock Park, Mike & Jan McIntyre of Jenison,  many nieces, nephews, cousins & dear friends. Mr. Ferris W. Gragg, age 93 of Grant, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 at his home in Ashland Township. He was born Ferris Worden Gragg in Grant, the son of Ottis Amarylus (Worden) and Elmer A. Gragg on November 1, 1915. He married Anna Belle Jenks on April 16, 1937 in Indiana. He was a self‑employed Dairy Farmer until his retirement. He was a member of Grant United Church of Christ and the Full Gospel Business Men .    

He is survived by his wife Anna Belle Gragg, his son Dennis & Echo Gragg of Grant, his grandchildren Lance & Kim Gragg of Grant, Denal & Darrel Nelson of Fremont, Vanessa & Jim Nicolas of Grant, his great grandchildren Cassi & Travis Hansen, Shawn & Cathy Gragg, Aaron, Cody, Mike Nicolas, Jessica & Jake Jones, Courtney & McKenzie Dupras, his great great grandchildren Jaxon, Reese, Austin Gragg, his sisters-in-law Carrie Jenks, Eileen Jenks , and Little Gi Gi his Faithful Companion.,

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM from the Grant United Church of Christ, on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 with Pastor David Beebe & Mr. Steve Hulst officiating. Mr. Thane Urban Hall, Age 76 of Newaygo, died Sunday, June 21, 2009 in Grand Rapids. He was born Thane Urban Hall in Deerfield Twp. Mecosta Co., Michigan the son of Gladys Elizabeth (Meyers)  and Ira Hall on May 29, 1933. He married Alberta Tittler in 1957 and she preceded him in death in 1967.  He then married Myra Perry in 1985 and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was a heavy equipment operator for Operating Engineers Union, Grand Rapids until his retirement. He was a member of American Legion. He was a veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from June 18, 1953 to May 18, 1955 when he was discharged as a PFC (T). He is survived by his children Lonny & Suzi Hall of Newaygo, Skeeter (Joanne) & Larry Mitchell of Grant, David & Laurie Pratt of Newaygo, Todd Pratt of Grand Rapids, Tommy Maurer of Grand Rapids, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, his brothers Eugene Hall of Arizona, Dwight & Verna Hall of Morley, Forest & Kathy Hall of Cedar Springs,  several nieces and nephews and his special friend Dorothy Besemer.   He was preceded in death by his step son Jim Pratt and grandson Matthew Hall. Mr. Howard Samuel Michels, Age 79 of Howard City died Monday, June 15, 2009 at home. He was born Howard Samuel Michels in Lansing, Michigan the son of Reba Rebecca (Blaker) and Howard Samuel Michels on December 22, 1929. He married Maxine Welch on October 7, 1989 in Fremont, Michigan. He was a Sailor in the United States Navy until 1969 and then a Security Gaurd at Sherwin Williams in California . He was a veteran having served in the Navy during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts from January 18, 1948 to September 30, 1969 when he was discharged as a SFM2. He is survived by his wife Maxine (Welch) Michels; his children Dave & Yolanda Michels of Riverside, CA, Teddy Michels of Riverside, CA, Yvette Michels of Riverside, CA, Elaine Welch of Howard City, Vera Giffen of Howard City, Kay Felde of Lake City, Arlene Sowell of Newaygo, Alfred Jr. & Cathy Welch of Howard City, Kathy Welch of Grant, Linda Pattenaude & Doug Cook of Grand Rapids, Beth Welch of Howard City, Mark Welch of Howard City, Robert & Lera Welch of Kent City; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; brothers Charles & Laurine Michels of Marne, Lloyd & Laura Michels of Ludington, Paul Michels of Holland, and sister Donna Curren of Ludington, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ephraim “Rudy” Rodriguez, age 78 of Newaygo,  died Sunday, June 7, 2009at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids.   He was born Ephraim Banda Rodriguez in Crystal City, Texas the son of Maria Refugia (Banda) and Luis Rodriguez on December 5, 1930. He married Frances Ortiz on May 29, 1954 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He was a Laborer for Sparta Piston Ring until retiring after 10 years in 1976 for medical reasons .   He was a member of Newaygo VFW Post #4249 and was a veteran having served in the Army during the Korean War from February 12, 1951 to February 2, 1953 when he was discharged as a PFC.

He is survived by his wife Frances Rodriguez, his children Berkeley & Edward Oberheu‑Pycz of Rock Hills, SC, Luis Rodriguez of Ravenna, Mary & Ron Tubbs of Greenville, Rachel & Jeffrey Jones of Phoenix, AZ, Sarah Rodriguez of Newaygo, 11 grandchildren,  6 great‑grandchildren, his brothers Daniel Rodriguez of Oregon,  Abraham Rodriguez of White Cloud.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 with Pastor Dennis Boonstra officiating. Interment will be in the Parkview Cemetery in Grant.   Visitation will be held 6‑8 PM Tuesday. For Memorials please consider the Lymphoma Association and/or West Michigan Heart. Faulkner – Mrs. Betty A. Faulkner, aged 80 of Newaygo pass away at her residence Saturday, June 6, 2009. She was born Betty Ann Mishler, September 27, 1928 in Grand Rapids, the daughter of Florence (Holiday) and Daniel Dyer. She married Clarence Chester Faulkner August 12, 1966 in Grandville and he preceded her in death June 22, 1991.

She is survived by one sister Barbara Hite of Newaygo, four daughters Jackie Anes & Judy Butler of Grand Rapids, Kelly & Michael White of Fremont & Connie Babbitt of Newaygo, son Robert & Jean Faulkner, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.   She was also preceded in death by sons Terry, Clarence Jr., and Jerry. 

Funeral Services will be held 1 PM Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Newaygo. Visitation will be held 7-9 PM Tuesday with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery near Newaygo.

Mrs. Martha Harroun, age 100 of Grant, died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at Fountainview Retirement Village in Grant. She was born Bertha Lily Whilden January 17, 1909 in Scanlon, Minnesota, the daughter of Albina (La Blance) and George Whilden. She married Richard Harroun on April 30, 1929 in Grand Rapids and he preceded her in death in April, 1978. She then married George Wyatt on 1983 in Wisconsin and he preceded her in death in 1993. She was employed at RC Allen where she was an inspector for 15 years retiring in 1996.

She is survived by sons Richard & Mona Harroun, Jr. of Newaygo, Roger & Shirley Herroun of Belmont, 7 grandchildren, 11 great­-grandchildren & great-­great­-grandchildren, her sister Evelyn & Bob Ramer of Minnesota. She was preceded in death by brothers Henry Whilden and Walt Whilden.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM from the McKinley Grant Chapel, on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Interment will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.   Visitation will be held one hour prior to service. For Memorials please consider the Fountainview Retirement Village in Grant.
