Mrs. Sharon K. Lackie, age 63 of Grant, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. She was born Sharon Kay Luce in Fremont, the daughter of Margaret Mae (Barry) and George Luce on July 25, 1945. She married Raymond Harold Lackie on December 31, 1979 in White Cloud. She was a Caregiver for State of Michigan until 2005 retiring after 15 years. She was a member of White Cloud Church of God.
She is survived by her husband Raymond Lackie, her children Michael & Veronica Gonzales of California, Connie Brymer of Grant, Jonnie Gonzales of Newaygo, step-children Gayle & Bruce Alford of Sparta, Michelle & Keith Pratt of South Carolina, 11 grandchildren, her brothers and sisters Alfred, Jr. & Jacki Barry of Sparta, Kim & Barb Barry of Newaygo, Charlene & Don Androusky of Indiana, Gloria & Sam Anderson of Burnips, and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. John Plakmeyer, age 94 of Grant, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 24, 2009. He was born John Plakmeyer in Sunfield, the son of Dena (Strucker) and Timothy Plakmeyer on March 21, 1914. He married Grace Geers on October 19, 1939 in Grant and she preceded him in death on July 13, 1999. He was a self-employed Vegetable Farmer for 50 years until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Grant Christian Reformed Church.
He is survived by his children Wayne Plakmeyer & wife Jeannie Schuman of Louisville, CO, Kenneth & Jan Plakmeyer of Grant, Diane & Al Zoet of Sand Lake, Denise Plakmeyer & husband Jack Vliet of Bellaire, Phil & Laurie Plakmeyer of Grant, 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his sister Jeanette Honderd of Jenison.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM from the Grant Christian Reformed Church, on Friday, February 27, 2009 with Pastor Lucas Rodenhouse officiating. Mrs. Helen Frances Hilbery, Age 85 of Newaygo, died Saturday, February 21, 2009 in Fremont. She was born Helen Frances Dickinson in Zion, Illinois the daughter of Florence May (Pincombe) and Winfred Dickinson on March 26, 1923. She married Earl Hilbery and he preceded her in death n 1962. She was a Factory Worker until her retirement. Interment in Christian Plains Cemetery.
Mr. Joseph J. Schleinkofer, Jr., age 90 of Grant, died Thursday, February 19, 2009 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Campus in Grand Rapids. He was born Joseph John Schleinkofer, Jr. in Chicago, Illinois the son of Mamie (Hejle) and Joseph John Schleinkofer on February 2, 1919. He was a Foreman at a Bakery until his retirement. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Marquette, WI. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from June 27, 1941 to October 10, 1945 when he was discharged as a Tec 4.
He is survived by his step-son Marvin & Betty Miller of Newaygo, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Robert J. Hollinger, age 63 of Grant, died suddenly Monday, February 16, 2009 at Gerber Memorial Health Services in Fremont. He was born Robert Jay Hollinger in Fremont, the son of Marian Louise (Brown) and Harold James Hollinger on April 20, 1945. He married Barbara Grace Christoffersen on December 31, 1977 in Grant. He was a AI Technician for North Star Cooperative and also was employed at the Tractor Supply Co. in Fremont. He was a member of Ashland Center Church of Christ and a member of Michigan Farm Bureau. He was a veteran having served in the Navy during the Vietnam War from September 21, 1965 to September 5, 1969 when he was discharged as a FTG3.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Hollinger, his sons Jay & Cammie Hollinger of Casnovia, Gy & Tressa Hollinger, his granddaughter Lyndi Hollinger, his sister Mary Jane & Darrell Wiggers of Newaygo, his mother-in-law Kate Christoffersen, and his brother-in-law A. J. & Sandy McKinley all of Grant. He was preceded in death by his sisters Carolyn McKinley and Ruth Henry and brother-in-law Dale Henry

BARBER – Mr. Edgar Alliston Barber, 86, of Newaygo, died Monday, February 16, 2009 in Grant. He was born Edgar Alliston Barber in Lansing, Michigan the son of Netti Edna (Baker) and Alliston Barber on February 9, 1923. He married Marjorie Baker on August 10, 1950. He was a Engineer for Sandmold Systems Inc. of Newaygo until his retirement. He was a member of the Newaygo Masonic Lodge and a former member of the Lansing Symphony. He served in the Army Air Corps with the 386th Bomb Group in the 553rd Squadron. He was a B-26 Marauder crew member where he saw action in the European Theater during World War II, earning the Purple Heart with four clusters and the Air Medal for Exemplary service. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Marjorie Barber of Grant; his grandson, Derrick and Kathleen Radtke of Roanoke, VA, and his great grandson, Ridge; his brother, Warren Barber of Atlanta, MI. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Colleen Haynes and his brother, Glen Carlton Barber. Mr. Robert Reo (Skinny) Melle, Age 64 of Newaygo, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 at home. He was born Robert Reo Melle in Grand Rapids, Michigan the son of Maude (Bowerman) and George Melle on November 21, 1944. He married Terri Anes on October 20, 1988 in Rockford, Michigan. He was a Paint shop foreman for Steelcase until his retirement in 1987. He was a member of the Sons of American Legion Post #381. He is survived by his wife Terri Melle of Newaygo, his children Tammy & Rick Newman of Arizona, Mike & Leslie Melle of Sparta, Angie & Deonta Johnson of Newaygo, Douglas & Rebecca Melle of Newaygo, 12 grandchildren, his sisters Lola McLanis of Grand Rapids, Ann & Mark Anderson of Wallace, his brother John Melle of Cedar Springs, his sisters in law Cindy & Tim Randolph of Grant, Karen & Jamie Briggs of Grand Rapids, Shelley & Dave Gard of Grand Rapids and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Charles V. Jenkins, Jr., Age 78 of Fremont, died Sunday, February 15, 2009 in Fremont. He was born Charles Vick Jenkins, Jr. in Central City, Kentucky the son of Lillian Mae(Christensen) and Charles Vick Jenkins, Sr. on August 7, 1930. He married Kazuko Kaneko on October 22, 1959 in Japan and she preceded him in death on Ocotober 14, 2008. He was a Dispatcher for Daly City Police Department, California until 1988. He graduated from Kentucky Military Institute and attended University of Kentucky for 3 years. He was a veteran having served in the Air Force during the Korean War from September 14, 1951 to September 2, 1955 when he was discharged as a SSgt (T) .
He is survived by his daughter Linda & Chris Suchner of White Cloud,his son Scott Jenkins of Fremont, his granddaughter Alexa Suchner and his grandson Spencer Suchner.

Mrs. Shirley Delores Wish, Age 80 of Newaygo, died Tuesday, February 10, 2009. She was born Shirley Delores Malick in Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Lillian (Nelson) and Michael Malick on January 31, 1929. She married John Wish on December 5, 1973 in Chicago, Illinois. She was an in home aide for Newaygo County Commission on Aging until her retirement. She was a member of Newaygo United Church of Christ. She waitressed for many years in Chicago. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post #4249 Auxiliary. She is survived by Husband John Wish of Newaygo, Daughter Carolyn Sheller of White Cloud, Daughter Penny & Michael Harvey of Las Vegas, Daughter Jackie & Eddie Pons of Florida, Daughter Adrienne & Charles Lockhart Illinois, 6 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and Brother Ronald & Mary Malick of Illinois. She was preceded in death by; Son in law Douglas Sheller, Grandson Robert Dowell, Jr., Great Granddaughter Ashley Taylor, and Brother Harry Malick. Mr. John A. Tibbe, age 87 of Grant, went to be with his Lord Saturday, February 7, 2009 from the Meadowlark Retirement Village in Sparta. He was born John Albert Tibbe in Grant, the son of Jennie (Hyma) and Gerrit J. Tibbe on March 10, 1921. He married May Reta Mouthaan on June 5, 1946 in Grant. He was a Grinder retiring after 25 years in 1983 for Muskegon Piston Ring-Sparta. He was a member of the Grant Reformed Church, the UAW Local #8 and the VFW Post #4249 of Newaygo. He was a veteran having served in the Army during World War II from October 29, 1942 to December 28, 1945 when he was discharged as a PFC.
He is survived by his wife May Reta Tibbe, his children Delores & Bernie Rollston of Fruitport, Dave & Janet Tibbe of West Olive, Marilyn & Bill Kaczmarek of Green Bay, WI, Roland Tibbe of Grand Rapids, Melvin Tibbe of Howard City, daughter-in-law Cindy Tibbe of Grant, 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son Steve Tibbe and daughter Barbara Ensley.
